Unemployment in a tough economy is hard for everyone, including your LGBT minorities. Some turn to crime. What I find interesting about this, is if you break the law in Belgium your given your choice of serving your sentence in jail at the gender of your choice.

The court sentenced Monday a Brazilian transsexual to 40 months in jail for allegedly importing 360 grams of cocaine. The individual, man born in 1978 but became a woman, was arrested March 22, 2010 at Brussels Airport with 52 pellets of cocaine in the body.

She said she acted this way for the first time because she wanted to help her family.

In Sao Paolo, he works as a hairdresser and a prostitute, but its activities do not allow it to make ends meet. One of his acquaintances had promised him a sum of 3,000 euros if he was carrying drugs. The prosecutor doubted her story. Her name having appeared several times on the passenger list, the prosecutor said she had made several trips.

The court finally sentenced to 40 months in prison.

The transsexual has had its way, after his arrest, between the men's prison and jail Forest Women Berkendael. She finally chose the latter.

I can not believe this article, it say that this person in a woman yet the article refers to her as Him, He and it. I would think on this website the people writing articles would be more sensitive with pronouns.

Anyone who used the word "it" towards a transperson is being deliberately spiteful.

Please be aware by the looks of it, the quoted text was from an none English newspaper that had been run through an online translator hence the glaring inconsistencies and poor grammar.

Yes I tried to make the appropriate corrections prior to quoting it, but missed a couple on instances. However, I did take some offense to the original article as well written in French. Apparently they did not adhere to the A.P. style recommendations.
